German Apple Fritters - Gebackene Apfelringe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • ½ cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 large Eggs lightly beaten
  • 3-4 Tart Apples peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • Vegetable Oil for frying
  • Powdered Sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon.
    2 cups All-purpose Flour, ½ cup Granulated Sugar, 2 tsp. Baking Powder, 1 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
  • Stir in the milk and beaten eggs, mixing until a smooth batter forms.

  • Gently fold in the apple slices, making sure they are evenly coated with the batter.
    3-4 Tart Apples
  • In a deep frying pan or pot, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  • Carefully drop the batter-coated apple slices into the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  • Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the fritters are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Use a slotted spoon to remove the fritters from the oil, and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  • Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.
