Aachen CHIO - Experience the Thrill of Equestrian Excellence

The CHIO Aachen, or Concours Hippique International Officiel, is one of the most prestigious equestrian events in the world. Held annually in Aachen, Germany, it attracts top riders and horses from around the globe. In addition to the title and following the nomenclature for the tournament, the CHIO has been held under the self-chosen name “Weltfest des Pferdesports” (World Equestrian Festival) since 1992.

The event features competitions in various equestrian disciplines, including dressage, show jumping, and eventing. It also includes exhibitions, demonstrations, and entertainment.

The Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V. racing club has organized the equestrian tournament on what is now CHIO’s site since 1925. The first race is on Friday and the event will continue until Sunday the following week. Every year Aachen is the meeting point for fans of equestrian sports from all over the world. But also for people who just want to be part of the special atmosphere; for example, there is Soerser Sunday. That is when admission to the entire CHIO area is free. During the week, the show displays 5 different disciplines for the crowd to marvel at, in addition to jumping, dressage and four-in-hand racing there is also versatility and vaulting, which have been included since 2006.

In addition to its sporting and competitive aspects, the Aachen CHIO is also a major social and cultural event. It attracts visitors from all over the world who come to enjoy the thrilling competitions, as well as the unique atmosphere and traditions of the event.

When people think of Aachen, they think of the CHIO and horses – a theme that is predominant throughout the city. If you are travelling by train to Aachen, you will be greeted immediately by the Group of horses in front of the main station. For horse enthusiasts, there is the Pferdelandschaftspark – Horse Landscape Park where you can walk around the many stud farms of Aachen.
